Absolute Action MMA: Battle Against Breast Cancer

On October 2nd Absolute Action MMA will have a unique event- an all women’s fight card. Not only is it unique by the card but also its being held for a very worthwhile cause - to raise money to fight breast cancer. Breast cancer is the 2nd most common form of cancer in women. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2006 (most recent year available) 191,410 women were diagnosed with cancer. The death toll due to breast cancer was 40,820 in 2006 (http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/breast/statistics/). I’m sure most of you reading this have been affected in some way by breast cancer. Please come out and help Absolute Action raise money to fight the dreaded disease of breast cancer.

Intimidation Clothing will be in attendance at the Absolute Action MMA event on October 2nd, the first all-female MMA event in Kentucky history.

In preparation for the fight I asked Absolute Action MMA owner Parag Patel and match-maker Billy Donovan for quotes on the event:

Billy Donovan: I'm very excited to bring in some of the names that are coming, having Cris "Cyborg" Santos and her husband here with Kim Couture is great all in itself. However, to have someone like Kim Couture with her background in the sport, actually competing on the card is fantastic. I hope it shows that Absolute Action MMA is striving to bring the local fans up close and personal with some of the bigger names in the sport. It’s great to have some of our local females competing on the same card with Couture. I am hopeful that it will help them jump start there career outside of the local area and bring recognition to women's MMA in the Midwest. Partnering up with the pink ribbon girls has been amazing, there organization is so unique and special to the fight against breast cancer that I am very proud to be affiliated with them on this event. Patel and myself attended a fundraiser of theirs a couple weekend's ago and just walking in you could feel the positive energy that there whole group has. To be able to help get there name out there and to help their cause is very special to me. I am hopeful that the entire community comes out to help support Absolute Action MMA and the Pink Ribbon Girls in the "Battle Against Breast Cancer.”

Parag Patel: In 6 short months, Absolute Action MMA has made great strides in showing that we are truly a Fan and Fighter first organization. We continue to put on shows where our fighters feel comfortable and where our fans feel like they have been to an event, a happening. We continue to bring attention to those that fight on the card through various media outlets. Oct 2nd is no different. I am lucky enough to be working with Tracie Metzger of the Pink Ribbon Girls.org to bring NATIONAL, if not INTER-national attention to this Breast Cancer Awareness Event. As you know this will be shown on CageFigthinglive.com for those that cant make the event in person, as well as taped for future rebroadcast on FOX Sport.

Billy (Donovan) has once again put together an incredible card for this show. 15 scheduled ALL Women bouts. 4 Professional Fights and to be headlined by Kim Couture and Felicia Wells! To have Cris 'Cyborg' Santos to be here for a meet and great! All this after only 4 shows ... good things happen when things are done the right way I guess. We keep bringing quality fighters and quality match-ups to the fans and will continue as long as the fighters and the fans want us to.
