Joe Soto vs. Diego SaraivaBellator featherweight champ Joe Soto (8-0) will not remain idle while the new #1 contender is named, instead he will face former UFC fighter Diego Saraiva (18-8-1) in a superfight at Bellator 19. Soto became the first Bellator 145-pound champ after defeating Ben Greer, Wilson Reis, and Yahir Reyes during season one. Saraiva had a 0-3 run in the UFC, but recently turned it around winning his last six fights to earn a position on the Bellator 19 card.
Dan Hornbuckle vs. Steve CarlSparkling Bellator welterweight Dan “The Handler” Hornbuckle (20-2) will meet M-1 Challenge vet, Steve Carl (10-1) in a welterweight semifinal tournament bout at Bellator 19. Hornbuckle has won five straight bouts including his submission victory over Tyler Stinson at BFC 15 on April 22nd in a quarterfinal bout. Steve Carl is currently on an 8-fight win streak, which includes a split decision victory over Affliction veteran Brett Cooper at BFC 15 on April 22nd.
Ben Askren vs. Ryan ThomasFormer University of Missouri wrestler, Ben Askren (4-0) brings his undefeated record into the Bellator welterweight semifinals against Ryan Thomas (11-4). Askren, an Iowa-native who now trains out of the Lion’s Den in Arizona, produced three straight stoppages before entering Bellator’s 170-pound tournament. He earned a technical submission victory at BFC 14 on April 15th over Ryan Thomas in the quarterfinal round. The bout was protested by Thomas as to being stopped prematurely, however stood up nonetheless. Thomas got a second Bellator life after falling to Askren on April 15th with a victory over Jacob McClintock at BFC 15 on April 22nd while filling in for Jim Wallhead.
