Damian Grabowski vs. Scott Barrett

Demian “Polish Pit Bull” Grabowski (12-0) will make his North American debut as a participant in the Bellator season three heavyweight tournament against heavy-handed Scott Barrett (10-1).

Grabowski, 30, is a Poland-native who trains out of the Lutadores Opole fight team where he specializes in submission wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. After debuting during the summer of 2007 in his home country, he hit the European countryside fighting in Lithuania, Netherlands, Austria, and England, where he won all twelve of his bouts via stoppage. Included in that victory run was an April 2009 UCFC tournament crown where he won four fights in the one-day event in Austria. He has won both of his fights this year, his most recent coming in June over M-1 Challenge veteran Michal Kita, who was then on a six-fight winning streak.

Barrett is a three-plus year veteran of mixed martial arts who has set up his training camp in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Throwdown Training Center. He won his first six professional bouts before dropping a February 2009 XFC bout. Since his loss, he has posted four consecutive victories including a May Bellator 17 TKO victory over Ty Lee. Nine of his ten victories have come by stoppage, eight of which have come by way of TKO.

Prediction – Grabowksi TKO

Cole Konrad vs. Rogent Lloret

Two-time NCAA wrestling champion Cole Konrad (4-0) will try and earn his third Bellator victory in the opening round of the season three heavyweight tournament against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Rogent Lloret (9-1-1, 1 NC).

Konrad, 26, is a Wisconsin-born wrestler who now trains out of the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy under the watchful eye of trainer Marty Morgan. Konrad began fighting professionally in February 2010 and picked up two victories for small time promotions in North Dakota and Pennsylvania. He signed with Bellator this spring after only two bouts and has since earned two unanimous decision victories. His first came in May at Bellator 17 over Pat Bennett, his second in June at Bellator 22 over John Orr.

Lloret, 31, is a Spanish-born mixed martial artist who trains out of the MMA Barcelona Team. He made his pro debut in April 2006 and won only twice in his first four bouts, however since that loss, he hasn’t dropped another bout. He is currently on an eight fight undefeated streak, five of those wins coming in the M-1 Challenge organization. His most recent victory, however, came in Switzerland for the Strength and Honor Championships promotion winning via TKO head kick over Miodrag Petkovic.

Prediction – Konrad decision

Jessica Pene vs. Zoila Frausto

Undefeated Jessica Pene (7-0) will meet once-defeated Zoila “The Warrior Princess” Frausto (7-1) in what expects to be a highly competitive women’s 115-pound opening round bout. This bout will be contested on the Fox Sports Net televised portion of the Bellator 25 main card.

Pene, 27, is a California-based mixed martial artist who trains out of the Subfighter Martial Arts gym in her home state. She made her professional debut in November 2006 and began with five straight wins before debuting for the organization on the Bellator 5 fight card, where she earned a 1 st round TKO victory over Tammie Schneider. She has since earned a submission victory over Angela Magana for the Action Fight League, which took place last September.

Frausto is also a California native who trains with Team Jorge Gurgel who has been competing as a pro for about a year and a half. She was undefeated after r five bouts when she lost to Miesha Tate on the Challengers 7 fight card this March. Since that loss, she has earned back-to-back victories, her last coming in June at Bellator 23 via 1st round KO over highly-ranked Rosi Sexton.

Prediction – Frausto TKO

Brad Blackburn vs. Dan Hornbuckle

Highly-regarded IFL/UFC veteran “Bad” Brad Blackburn (15-11-1, 1 NC) will take on Bellator veteran Dan “The Handler” Hornbuckle (21-3) in a non-tournament welterweight bout on the BFC 25 main card.

Blackburn, 33, is a California-born mixed martial artist who is best known for his high-level cardio and knockout power. Blackburn began competing as a professional in August 2001, however after his first four years had posted only a mediocre 8-7-1 record while competing for organizations like Rumble in the Ring, Superfight, and Ring of Fire. He found some consistency from April 2006 through April 2008 when he fought seven times and won four times while fighting for the Seattle Tiger Sharks of the IFL. In July 2008 he debuted for the UFC and won his first three defeating James Giboo, Ryo Chonan, and Edgar Garcia, but after losing back-to-back bouts to Amir Sadollah and DaMarques Johnson, he was let go.

Hornbuckle, 29, is an Illinois-born Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist who trains out of the American Top Team camp. He began his pro career in February 2006 and after losing in his third career fight, posted 13 consecutive victories fighting for organizations like Hook-n-Shoot and Bodog Fight. He started to gain some recognition when he earned two victories in three fights for the Sengoku organization; most notably his highlight reel head kick KO of Akihiro Gono. He signed with Bellator this year for the welterweight tournament and won his first two before losing to Ben Askren in the final this June at Bellator 22.

Prediction – Blackburn TKO
