Vic Darchinyan vs Jorge Arce Fight Preview
After waiting years for the fight to take place, we finally get to see what happens when two of the most exciting fighters in boxing meet head to head. Who will come out on top in the Vic Darchinyan vs. Jorge Arce battle? - Find the Darchinyan vs Arce results & recap here at ProFighting-fans.com!
Path to the FightTwo long years ago, it seemed that flyweight brawlers Vic Darchinyan and Jorge Arce were on a collision course for each other. Arce was being routinely showcased on HBO Boxing and was known as much for his knockouts as for his persona. Darchinyan was defending his title with memorable knockouts and extreme arrogance on Showtime Boxing. However, Arce would soon meet master boxer Christian Mijares in April of 2007. He would be out-boxed and dismantled for the entire contest, losing an extremely wide decision. Just months after, Vic Darchinyan would meet up with Nonito Donaire, the brother of Glenn Donaire, a fighter who he had KO'd less than a year before. Overconfidence oozing from his pores, Darchinyan would be pummeled for the better part of 5 rounds, before being brutally leveled in a knockout of the year candidate. While both fighters have been back in the win column since their equal setbacks in 2007, the path they seem to be taking has diverged. Arce, despite being the younger man, has far more experience in the ring. And because of his brawling, action packed style, he also has taken far more punishment in his career. There have been some signs that Arce is slowing down. No longer is he the ferocious ball of energy that will keep coming at you no matter what. He can, and has been, deterred. Vic Darchinyan on the other hand seems to have improved since his only loss. Still absurdly arrogant (after his brutal KO loss, he denied having really lost), he has managed to add new components to his game. The best performance of his career came just several months ago, against the man who picked apart Arce for 12 rounds, Christian Mijares. In that fight, Darchinyan, known for his extremely awkward style and posture in the ring, actually deployed some boxing skills. He showed a quick and snapping jab, as well as some defensive head movements and angles. With his newly found boxing ability, Darchinyan beat the slick Mijares to the punch and set him up for his big shots, which ended the dominant performance in the 9th round.
The Fighters
Keys to Victory for DarchinyanDarchinyan needs to use his quick jab, a tool he only recently learned, to control the distance and the pace of the fight. His jab also will help him set up his huge left hand. The southpaw is one of the best pure punchers in the business, and if he puts combinations together to really set his opponent up, it will be lights out.
Keys to Victory for ArceArce is a face first brawler who wins with aggression, speed and punch output. If he can get into close quarters with Darchinyan and get his punches off first, he can throw Vic off his game. This could result in Darchinyan resorting to throwing one punch at a time, looking for a homerun. If this happens, Arce will be able to move in and out at will, and win a decision or go for a late stoppage.
Prediction for Darchinyan vs Arce I expect that Arce will come out strong and win some of the early rounds with his aggression. However, Darchinyan will begin landing his giant straight left as the two men exchange combinations. Arce will begin slowing down, and Darchinyan will begin unleashing his vicious uppercuts and hooks as well. Arce will hit the canvas and either the referee will stop the fight as Darchinyan continues his assault or he will be counted out for the KO, somewhere between the 7th and 10th rounds.
