Pacquiao Hatton 24/7 Episode 2Pro Fighting Fans has released our Pacquiao Hatton preview!
In the beginning of the 2nd episode Pacquiao Hatton 24/7 we get another glimpse into Manny Pacquiao's camp and living quarters. As always, he is stationed with a huge group of team members in a tiny home. Ten men altogether in a small apartment, all tending to Pacquiao's need for comfort and community, along with whatever errands and tasks need attending to. We also see that Freddie Roach has moved away from his Wild Card Gym apartment and into a house in another area of L.A. While it's certainly a more comfortable looking home, Roach doesn't appear to like being away from the action. (Read our February 2009 interview with Freddie Roach) At the gym we see Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg watching the fight action. The two famous actors and celebrities are mystified by taking in Pacquiao's training. Manny Pacquiao's sparring sessions are infamous and we see him put down a sparring partner with a body shot that leaves him down on the canvas for minutes.
Moving to Ricky Hatton's camp, we watch Floyd Mayweather Sr. picking up lunch and delaying Hatton's training as he goes about his own musings. Finally Mayweather Sr. shows up and Hatton viciously works the mitts with his other camp members in attendance at the gym. Hatton and his camp hit the blackjack tables together which would certainly be viewed as an unnecessary distraction by many in the boxing world. Back to Pacquiao, we see Pacquiao and his wife in their new Hollywood mansion. Pacquiao clarifies, as if it was necessary, that his real home is still in the Phillipines. Roach expounds on how Pacquiao is now a more complete fighter than ever. We see Roach teaching Michael Moorer a bit as Moorer takes on more tasks at the gym. It's explained that his presence his largely due to Roach and his continuing battle with Parkinson's Disease. Back to Hatton, Hatton talks about coming into camp in better shape than he normally does. It's been three weeks since Hatton left England, leaving behind his son Campbell and his fiancé Jennifer. Roach and Moorer watch some Hatton fight tapes as Pacquiao is seen taking his wife to the airport, where she is going back home.
We get a look at a man named Shane Langford who works at the Wild Card and sleeps on the floor. With one eye closed and scars from stab wounds over his body, Langford credits Roach with saving his life for getting him off the streets. We then learn how Roach, along his life journey, used to be a telemarketer struggling to make ends meet. He then happened to call Mickey Rourke who was pursuing his entrance into the boxing realm. It would be Roach's first training assignment. Langford quietly studies Roach at work, hoping for his own opportunity one day. Finally we hear a bit about the past of Mayweather Sr., and his pro career. We hear how he hopes that he and his son can reconcile in the future. It's two weeks until the big fight as another episode of Hatton Pacquiao 24/7 comes to an end.
