Eddie Alvarez is a mixed martial artist out of Philadelphia, PA. Only twenty-six years old, Alvarez has quickly made a name for himself throughout the MMA world. Turning pro at the age of nineteen, he put together a very impressive record of 10-0 before being dealt his first loss to Nick Thompson at BodogFight in 2007. Fighting in various countries, Alvarez has caught the attention of MMA fans worldwide as he has dominated in an array of different venues, including BodogFight, DREAM, and Bellator. At one time he held the BodogFight welterweight championship, and had made it to the DREAM lightweight semifinals where he suffered an eye injury that held him from fighting in the finals. Last year he added the Bellator lightweight championship to his already impressive resume as he defeated MMA veteran and Toby Imada with an impressive submission.

Alvarez has continued his winning ways as he most recently defeated former UFC fighter Josh Neer with a rear naked choke at Bellator 17 on May 6th to continue his current win streak of five consecutive fights. More impressive about his streak is that all five of his victories have come by way of submissions.

In fact, only two out of his twenty wins have gone to a decision. Alvarez is an explosive fighter with extraordinary submission skills accompanied by an unrelenting striking ability. Each time he steps in the ring to go to battle fans can expect to see fireworks as he continues to prove fight after fight that he is one of the best in the world in his respected weight class.

What makes Alvarez stand out is his relentless determination and drive to get better. Not once in his career has he showed any signs of complacency as he continues to work hard to improve his overall fight game. At the ripe age of twenty-six, Alvarez is set for big up-and-coming things if he continues to impress fight fans worldwide as he has been doing one fight after another.
