A Fan's View from his Couch: UFC 100 Preview
I for one hate hyperbole, but for UFC 100 I'll allow it, because although the Countdown is less than 24 hours old I have already worn out my DVR. Yes, here it comes, the excitement is palpable! Enough of that, we know this card is amazing, awesome, super and scintillating so lets get to my view from the couch for UFC 100!
UFC 100 Main Event - Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir
This will not be a repeat of their first bout over 17 months ago. First, Frank Mir has shown he can fight just about anyone's face with his fist as he knocked out the once unknockoutable Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Second, Brock Lesner has absolutely smashed two of the best UFC heavyweights going in Heath Herring and of course Randy Couture. Third, it’s been 17 months in the making, trust me these two have trained more hours for each other that Nike's spend salivating over LeBron. So let’s break this fight down with several questions with one word answers....Stand up, Lesner. Wrestling, Lesner. Grappling, Mir. Jits, Mir. Power, Lesner. Experience, Mir. By my calculations its a tie and ties are always broken, unless it’s Soccer's Confederates Cup, by head-to-head competition – which goes to Mir. Mir wins this one by third round guillotine choke when Lesner gets frustrated rushes in and gives the neck.

UFC 100 - Georges St. Pierre vs Thiago Alves
First things first, this fight will NOT go five rounds. Alves has stopped 5 of his last 6 fights early; "Rush" has stopped 5 of his last 7 fights early, so like I said, it's not going the distance. Both men are monsters, both men can wrestle, both men have ground and pound and both men have a lot of pride. The problem for "Pitbull" Alves is that George has just a little bit more of all of those. He can throw fist with the best of them; just ask Hughes, Serra or Fitch. He can wrestle with the best of them - see Josh Koscheck. And he has great jits, greased or not, as BJ Penn couldn't do much of anything against St. Pierre. Put all of that together and you have GSP winning in the third via referee stoppage because Alves looks like a victim in a B list slasher film.
UFC 100 - Dan Henderson vs Michael Bisping
I really can't be fair when it comes to this fight. I can not stand Mike Bisping, I respect his 7-1 UFC record with his lone loss coming to Rashad Evans. I respect that he has ended 5 of his 6 wins early and hell I loved when he beat the cheating shit out of Chris Leben, but how could I pick him against Dan Henderson. I can't since Dan is a world class wrestler who has had his head smashed on like a Tommy Lee drum and keeps on coming, and that is what he will do to "The Count." I think the All-American will wear out the Brit until he can impose his ground and pound will on him and squeak out a decision win, 29-28, and earn his spot as a true title contender at 185 pounds.
Those are the three fights that everyone is talking about, but don't forget that Jon Fitch will try to pick up AKA teammate Josh Koscheck when he squares off against Paulo Tiago. Alan Belcher will look to extend his win streak to 3 when he welcomes Yoshihiro Akiyama to the UFC in his long-awaited debut. And Mark Coleman and Stephan Bonnar both need a good showing to show they still deserve to be in the UFC. Three more reasons to tune in on Saturday, but you were watching anyways weren't you?
