Forrest Petz added to UFC 116 fight card

Strong Style Fight Team member Forrest Petz headed back to UFC as late replacement at UFC 116

Forrest Petz has defeated Luigi Fioravanti at UFC Fight Night 10 and has a 2-3 mark in 5 career UFC fights.

ProFighting-fans.com has learned that Forrest Petz has been added to the UFC 116 fight card after multiple sources broke the news earlier today. Petz is expected to replace injured Julio Paulino (17-3, 0-1 UFC) and will face Daniel Roberts (9-1, 0-1 UFC) at UFC 116 on July 3, 2010at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Roberts began his career 9-0 before a KO loss to John Howard on the UFC on Versus 1 card in March 2010 for his first professional loss. Roberts was a replacement on the card for an injured Anthony Johnson.

Petz, a 5-fight veteran of the UFC, has amassed a 24-7 career MMA record and is 2-3 in his 5 UFC fights. Cleverly nicknamed "The Meat Cleaver," Petz defeated Luigi Fioravanti at UFC Fight Night 10 (pictured) and Sam Morgan at UFC Fight Night 6. Petz also holds a very impressive win over Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy, the most recent challenger to lose to Georges St-Pierre for the UFC's Welerweight title.

At 34 years old, Petz is the reigning NAAFS Welterweight Champion fighting out of the Strong Style Martial Arts & Training Center in Independence, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. He was expected to defend his 170 pound title in Cleveland at NAAFS: Rock 'N Rumble in late August. Petz told ProFighting-fans.com in a live February 2010 interview that he hoped for a rematch with Dan Hardy should Hardy lose to GSP. While that did happen Petz will once again have an opportunity to fight for MMA's premier organization and the paths of Forrest Petz and Dan Hardy could indeed meet again one day.
