UFC Lightweight contender Gray Maynard visits GriffonRawl MMA Academy

Gray Maynard seminar in Cleveland OhioUFC Lightweight contender Gray "The Bully" Maynard paid a visit to GriffonRawl MMA Academy to instruct Cleveland-area fighters at an MMA seminar on April 18, 2010. Maynard, considered by many to be the top contender in the UFC's stacked lightweight division and currently ranked #3 in the Pro Fighting Fans UFC Lightweight Division Rankings, is a former State Wrestling Champion in Ohio where he wrestled at powerhouse St. Edward's High School in the Cleveland area. Maynard, who trains at Xtreme Couture, took time out of his busy schedule to not only pay a visit to Northeast Ohio but also instruct many of the top fighters in the region at GriffonRawl in Mentor, Ohio.

Maynard was brought to the Cleveland area by GriffonRawl gym owner and UFC veteran Jason Dent. "I like to bring in some of the top fighters in MMA from time to time to help my students and others in Northeast Ohio to learn from," said Dent. Dent was also able to secure sponsors for the event including the North American Allied Fight Series (NAAFS) where he is the reigning lightweight champion, and Intimidation Clothing, makers of bold, edgy MMA apparel & clothing. The Intimidation team was on hand selling shirts at the event and Maynard also brought a few of his Gray "The Bully" Maynard Xtreme Couture shirts. Several fighters in attendance have upcoming fights and even a few fought the night before as GriffonRawl fighter Jason Departo said. "I just fought last night but I am glad I am here today to learn," said Departo.

Pro Fighting Fans will be posting our dual interview as Director of Marketing Luke Jernigan teamed up with Nick Kubik from the NAAFS for an interview of Gray Maynard prior to the event. Maynard discusses his high school wrestling career at St. Edward's High School in nearby Lakewood, OH, his college career at Michigan State, training with BJ Penn, Randy Couture and more as well as a possible title shot in the UFC's 155 pound lightweight division.
