"The Iceman" returns for Week 3 of "Dancing with the Stars"Chuck Liddell is entertaining and fun with his Samba in week 3 of DWTS
UFC Hall of Famer, Chuck Liddell’s third hardwood routine took place tonight on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Week 1 saw Liddell and Russian partner, Anna Trebunskaya heat up the dance floor with their rendition of the Foxtrot, which earned 16 of 30 total points. They also finished third out of four, with their salsa, which earned 22 total points. The duo engaged in an intense Tango in week 2, where Chuck showed his classic intimidating stare throughout the routine. Their version of the Tango earned them a total of 19, which turned out to be good enough to help advance to this, the third week of the competition.
This week was Latin week as Chuck and Anna continued to show overall improvement with their impression of the Samba. The “Iceman” showed more of his feminine side, taking time out of his busy dance schedule to get a pedicure with his daughter. As far as the performance, the 39 year-old began by wearing a shirt similar to the “puffy shirt” from the famed Seinfeld episode. After his routine began, Chuck ripped off the sleeves and threw a familiar high kick in the direction of the judges’ score table. As usual, the routine seemed to be backed by hard work and practice from Liddell, but wasn’t as smooth as some of his more nimble dancing opponents. The judges again seemed to be pleased with the effort of the “Iceman” and complimentary with their criticism. “You thoroughly entertained me,” said the usually stone-cold judge, Len Goodman. Bruno Tonioli confused everyone with his comment by saying, “It was like a samba from zombie town, but zombie town is a hit!” The fairest and firmest of all the judges, the beautiful Carrie Ann Inaba made the most sense with her analysis, “It was rough, but it was fun.”
Liddell scored a 17 overall, which tied him with actress Debi Mazar, placing him near the bottom of the group. His 17, however was not last among the 13 remaining dancers, as former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, Michael Irvin and injured politician, Tom DeLay scored lower. Singer Mya and Olympic swimmer, Natalie Coughlin were both spot on this week with their rumba routines, scoring 27 and 26 respectively. If you would like to see “The Iceman” continue and stay on the dance floor, please contribute your (8) votes by calling 800-868-3402 or by logging on and voting on ABC.com.
