Affliction Trilogy Cancelled: Affliction Trilogy Fight Card & Results
Affliction: Trilogy, Affliction's third event, was set to take place in Anaheim, CA, on August 1, 2009 and was supposed to feature Fedor Emelianenko, the #1 pound for pound MMA fighter in the world, against Josh Barnett, the #2 ranked heavyweight outside of the UFC. The main Affliction: Trilogy fights were to be televised on August 1 on Pay Per View, with the preliminary fights on HDNet. However, less than 10 days prior to the event, Josh Barnett tested positive for steroids and was not allowed to fight. After a suitable replacement for Barnett was not found, Yahoo and other sources began reporting that Affliction is folding as an MMA promotion and they will begin to promote the UFC.
