King of the Cage put on another great MMA event in March 2010 with King of the Cage "Legacy" and the recap from ProFighting-fans.com is below.

Quinn Mulhern vs. Koffi Adzitso

In the KOTC welterweight championship fight, Quinn Mulhern fought off some early bombs from former Extreme Challenge welterweight champ, Koffi Adzitso, to get the submission victory early in the 2 nd round to become the new welterweight champ.

Adzitso came out with pressure, connecting with several heavy strikes from a standing position. Mulhern was able to survive the early advantage from Adzitso and get the fight to the ground. From that point on, Mulhern was in total control. Adzitso spent much of the end of the 1 st round fighting off triangle choke and shoulder lock submissions.

It was early in the 2 nd frame when Mulhern worked the takedown, took the back of Adzitso, and sunk in the fight-ending rear naked choke submission.

The victory for Mulhern is his third straight and while he picked up his eighth career KOTC victory, his overall record improves to 11-1. Absolute MMA’s, Adzitso, has dropped three straight bouts and falls to 11-5 in his career mark.

Mike Guidry vs. Nick Gaston

Columbus, Ohio native, Nick Gaston, continued his undefeated streak with an impressive 1 st round submission of previously undefeated Mike Guidry at last night’s KOTC “Legacy” event.

Both fighters came out swinging and tagging each other with several strikes. Guidry concentrated more on knees and kicks, compared to Gaston, who wanted to use his clinch game. Gaston worked Guidry to the ground and began his assault from side control. After bloodying Guidry’s face, he turned to work on is arm. The submission came at the 4:49 mark of the 1 st round.

The victory improves Gaston’s record to 4-0; all of his bouts have been inside the KOTC cage. Guidry, a Pacific Martial Arts fighter, drops to 2-1 for his career. “Legacy” was his first fight under the KOTC banner.

Tim Means vs. Jaime Jara

Forty-one year old longtime King of the Cage veteran, Jaime Jara, used some well-placed strikes to gain advantage of Tim Means eventually securing a guillotine choke for his twenty-sixth career victory.

Both fighters wasted little time in “getting it on”, as Means tried to utilize his clinch game as Jara preferred to stand and trade punches. Jara got the takedown early on but Means used some jiu-jitsu to escape danger and return to his feet. It turned out to be the wrong decision as Jara rocked Means with several lefts to the face. Seeing that he was confused, Jara locked on to Means’ neck and took him to the ground where he locked in the guillotine choke at 2:19 of the 1st round.

Jaime Jara improves his KOTC record to 2-0, 1NC and his career record to 26-7. He is on a five-fight win streak dating back to his last loss in May of 2009. Means drops to 8-3 overall and 5-1 for King of the Cage; he was on a six-fight win streak before his loss last night.

Tony Lopez vs. Tony Johnson

Tony Johnson ended Tony Lopez’s 16-fight winning streak with his unanimous decision victory at last night’s King of the Cage “Legacy” event. With the victory, Johnson becomes the new KOTC Heavyweight champ as well as a legitimate heavyweight prospect for much larger shows.

Johnson used his weight advantage in combination with his excellent wrestling skills to nullify Lopez’s striking. The former Iowa State wrestler converted takedowns in each round and from the ground position worked his ground and pound game to get the nod over Lopez. Lopez nearly ended the fight with his submissions, including an armbar at the end of the 5th round; however, Johnson survived each time to claim the belt.

Lopez, a five-year MMA veteran, is now 18-3 overall in his professional career. He is 16-2 inside of the KOTC cage. Johnson moves to 4-0 in his career; this was his first fight for KOTC.

Dustin Akbari vs. Jack Montgomery

Ultimate Fitness prospect Dustin “Persian Prince” Akbari picked up his fifth career win with a mix of wrestling and striking in the KOTC “Legacy” swing bout over journeyman, Jack Montgomery.

Akbari came out and secured a takedown within seconds of the opening bout, shaking off a guillotine choke from Montgomery after they hit the floor. While Akbari worked his striking from top position, Montgomery attempted to catch Akbari in a submission. He didn’t get too far with his attempts as Akbari took his back after a separation and finished him with some hard punches to the head. The KO finish took place at the 2:30 mark of the 1 st round.

Akbari moves his professional record to 5-1 and looks to get a chance at possibly the UFC in the future. Montgomery drops to 7-8 in his career in his KOTC debut; he has dropped back-to-back fights.

Jon Murphy vs. Mike Kyle

Mike Kyle secured his second KOTC victory after pounding out Jon “Man of Faith” Murphy late in the 1st round of the KOTC “Legacy” main event.

A fast-paced 1st round was dominated by Kyle who was busy both on the ground and on his feet utilizing his striking game. Murphy did land some heavy shots when he made it back to his feet, but Kyle overwhelmed Murphy with a crucifix position late in the 2nd round and pounded him out with elbows and punches. The TKO referee stoppage came at 4:53 of the 2 nd round.

Kyle improves to 17-7-1 overall and 2-2 with KOTC. He has won three in a row and six of his last seven. Murphy drops to 5-4 overall and 1-2 with KOTC. He has dropped two of his last three fights.
