ProFighting-fans.com Sponsors Damarques Johnson at UFC 107Johnson becomes second UFC fighter sponsorsed by Pro Fighting Fans in as many major UFC events
On Saturday, December 21, the Ultimate Fighting Championship put on UFC 107 in Memphis, TN, and in just the second fight of the night ProFighting-fans.com became a major part of the event. Damarques Johnson, making his first appearance in the UFC since The Ultimate Fighter 9 finale in June, took on Edgar Garcia on the undercard. Johnson, wearing black and white TapouT shorts with PROFIGHTINGFANS.COM written in bold letters across his rear, traded punches with Garcia early in the fight as both fighters looked to establish the stand-up game. After a Garcia takedown, Jonson was able to defend against a attempted peruvian necktie choke before sinking in a triangle choke of his own late in the round to end the fight. The choke landed Damarques Johnson the Submission of the Night (and a nice bonus!) and his first win in the UFC. Johnson's fight was one of two preliminary fights to make the UFC 107 Pay Per View broadcast hitting TV sets after the conclusion of the lightweight title fight between BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez. With the win the 27-year old Johnson improves to 10-7 in his MMA career with a 1-1 mark in the UFC. Overall, Johnson has won 6 of his last 8 fights and is 8-3 since the start of 2007. On The Ultimate Fighter season 9, Johnson advanced all the way to the finale where he lost to TUF 9 Welterweight winner James Wilks. Johnson defeated Nick Osipczak and Dean Amasinger en route to the TUF 9 finale. Next up for Damarques Johnson is the waiting game as he will wait to see who the UFC matches him with as well as when he will fight again. Johnson is a member of Elite Performance and trains in Salt Lake City, Utah, with UFC veteran Jeremy Horn. ProFighting-fans.com is the UFC news and MMA content provider for the DFN Sports Network.
