Batista to MMA: Will The Animal Enter the Cage?

Is the former WWE star Batista going to break into the world of MMA?

Unlike many rumors in the MMA universe, this has substance. It has been reported that not only is Dave Batista leaving the WWE, but the wrestling star is seriously contemplating a career change, yes to the world of MMA. Batista is a giant in the form of Brock Lesnar but doesn’t have the amateur wrestling experience. However, despite his age he may be a better athlete than the UFC Heavyweight Champion.

The 41 year old wrestling superstar has reached the pinnacle of his profession obtaining main event status on WWE pay-per-views. Now it appears he is ready to challenge himself in a competitive environment. What does he bring to the table? First and foremost incredible size and athleticism. He stands at 6’6”, weighs in at a chiseled 290 lbs and has appeared on the cover of several muscle magazines. For his size he is incredibly mobile and flexible. Wrestling fans have likely noticed a leaner Batista in recent months as his WWE contract is about to expire. Batista has also done some shadow boxing post matches which may have been a message to the WWE’s brass.
