Future UFC Fight Card Rumors
A look at upcoming UFC fight cards and fights rumored to be taking place
The UFC continues to schedule events in 2010 with several title fights and fights with title implications upcoming. Rumors are swirling around Anderson Silva's next fight, a BJ Penn versus Frankie Edgar rematch and of course the Brock Lesnar fight with Shane Carwin, and we have collected a few notable UFC rumors below.
UFC 115 Rumors
Most of the UFC 115 fight card has been finalized but it seems a new rumor has cropped up; a fight between Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves. This fight was originally scheduled for UFC 111 but Alves was not able to fight due to an irregular CAT scan before the fight. Fitch is easily the most underrated fighter in the UFC going 12-1 in his UFC career and 22-3 in his MMA career. Fitch has defeated Alves once already, and while his lone UFC loss was the Georges St-Pierre at UFC 87 it seems that Dana White has no interest in seeing Fitch fight St-Pierre again.
UFC 116 Rumors
UFC 116 is set for Las Vegas and is expected to be headlined by UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and Interim Champ Shane Carwin. Other matchups expected on the UFC 116 fight card include Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Wanderlei Silva and a Stephan Bonnar vs Krzysztof Soszynski rematch of their contorversial UFC 110 fight.
UFC 117 Rumors
On August 7, UFC 117 is expected to take place in Oakland, California with UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva facing Chael Sonnen atop the UFC 117 fight card. In a recent interview with Pro Fighting Fans, Sonnen stated in regards to Silva "I'm not sure what his deal is, but I assure you, he won't fight me unless Dana makes him."
UFC 118 Rumors
UFC 118 looks to be the first UFC event held in Massachusetts, and if the rumors are true should be a stellar card with two huge fights in the lightweight division. Rumors point toward UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar facing BJ Penn in a rematch of their UFC 112 fight atop the UFC 118 fight card. Also expected, although not confirmed, is a Gray Maynard versus Kenny Florian matchup which will surely crown the #1 contender in the 155 pound division. In an interview with Maynard on Sunday when asked he said he had heard the reports but would not confirm or deny them and that he welcomed facing Florian.
