Live coverage & results at Strikeforce Carano vs. Cyborg provided by Pro Fighting Fans

ProFighting-fans.com will be live at the Strikeforce August 15 event in San Jose, California

Strikeforce, a growing MMA promotion and the leading competitor to the UFC, will have its biggest event to date on Saturday, August 15 in San Jose, CA. For fans who are not going to be able to attend or watch the broadcast on Showtime visit ProFighting-fans.com for event previews, live Strikeforce Carano vs Cyborg results as they happen, and an overall event recap and review directly following the broadcast. ProFighting-fans.com will also provide live coverage from the weigh-ins including photos.

The knowledgeable staff at Pro Fighting Fans, the #1 ranked MMA fansite on Google, already has a full event preview—complete with our Strikeforce predictions of the entire Strikeforce Carano vs. Santos card from top to bottom. Results from every fight on the card, both preliminary card bouts and the televised main card bouts, will be covered with live updates on a round-by-round format starting with the first fight of the night at approximately 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

The event features three title fights with media darling Gina Carano facing Christiane “Cyborg” Santos in the biggest women’s event in the history of MMA which will crown the first ever Strikeforce Women's 145 Pound Champion. Carano has proven to be lethal in the stand up but she has never faced the likes of a fighter like Santos. Santos is an animal seeking to devour the much more publicized Carano as she brings a wicked ground game to the event.

For the Interim Strikeforce Lightweight Title, Gilbert Melendez will battle Mitsuhiro Ishida. Melendez holds a very impressive 15-2 record with one of those defeats coming at the hands of Ishida. Ishida competed for Strikeforce in September of 2008 defeating Justin Wilcox.

Renato “Babalu” Sobral will battle Gegard Mousasi for Strikeforce’s Light Heavyweight Title. Babalu chants will be reigning down in the HP Pavilion as he battles Gegard Mousasi, a newcomer to Strikeforce who holds a career record 25-2-1 and has not lost in three years. Babalu is a veteran in the cage competing over 40 times meaning this should be a classic battle.

The Welterweight Title was also supposed to be up for grabs before Nick Diaz failed to show up for the mandatory drug testing earlier this week. As a result, the main card will now feature Jay Hieron versus Jesse Taylor. Hieron, an Affliction and IFL vet, holds a career record of 17-4 and hasn’t lost since 2007 while Taylor is a former The Ultimate Fighter finalist holding a record of 13-3.

Be sure to check out all of the UFC discussion forums on the various MMA message boards listed on our site to comment on Saturday's big event.

We hope you enjoy the fights!
