Featuring a main event for the Strikeforce Welterweight Championship between Stockton hot head Nick Diaz and Dream Welterweight Champion Marius Zaromskis, Strikeforce: Miami promises to be explosive. Since debuting for the promotion with a pair of dominant victories over MMA legend Frank Shamrock and Strikeforce main stay Scott Smith, Diaz has established himself as the clear betting favorite to emerge as the undisputed welterweight champion.

Although Diaz will be riding an impressive five-fight winning streak when he steps into the cage against Dream champion Zaromskis, the man standing across from him come fight time promises to make for an entertaining and competitive bout. Since bursting onto the scene in 2009 win a clean sweep of the Dream welterweight tournament, which included highlight-reel head kick knockouts over Jason High and Hayato Sakurai, Zaromskis has emerged as one of the most interesting prospects on the international MMA scene. His aggression and striking prowess should make for an interesting style match-up with the long reach and dominating submission game of the Stockton-native.

Also on the card will be a Women’s 145 lb Championship bout between champion Christiane “Cyborg” Santos and experienced challenger Marloes Coenen. After defeating the face of women’s MMA with a dominating performance last August to take the title, Santos should have her hands full in her first title defense with the well-rounded skill set and aggression Coenen brings to all of her bouts.

In what promises to be one of the most explosive contests on the entire card, former EliteXC Middleweight Champion Robbie Lawler will welcome K-1 veteran and powerful striker Melvin Manhoef to the Strikeforce cage for the first time. With both fighters known for the concussive power, this one is probably the least likely to make it the full fifteen minutes.

Rounding out the card will be a pair of high-profile matches between renowned football legend Herschel Walker as he makes his professional mixed martial arts debut against Greg Nagy while WWE superstar and MMA newcomer Bobby Lashley takes on TUF 10 veteran and all-around personality Wes Sims on scarcely more than one week’s notice for the latter.
