Strikeforce Fedor vs Rogers Results: Fedor vs Rogers Results - November 7, 2009Strikeforce's prize fighter, #1 MMA heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, made his Strikeforce debut on November 7, 2009 against previously undefeated Brett Rogers live on CBS. Both fighters were coming off of KO victories over Andrei Arlovski with Fedor having defeated Arlovski in January 2009 and Rogers having done the same in June at Strikeforce Lawler vs Shields. ProFighting-fans.com covered the event with our live round by round blog and the official Strikeforce Fedor vs Rogers results are posted below. Fans can also find historic Strikeforce results as well as the fight card for Strikeforce Evolution which is set to take place on December 19, 2009 here at ProFighting-fans.com.
Antonio Silva vs. Fabricio WerdumFabricio Werdum swayed the judges’ decision in his favor with a one-sided final round, capturing the unanimous decision with scores of 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 over a heavy-hitting Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (13-2). Silva began the fight with a flurry of punches catching Werdum with a right hand that sent him crashing to the canvas. Silva put Werdum on his bottom again in the 2nd round but Werdum quickly gathered himself and established his ground game, almost finishing Silva twice during the middle frame. Werdum dominated the final round with a takedown then worked his ground and pound almost the entire round finishing as the clear-cut winner. Werdum has probably established himself as Fedor’s next opponent by putting back-to-back wins together. His four wins in his last five bouts include a 2-0 mark in Strikeforce action. The loss snaps a six-fight win streak for Silva who was making his Strikeforce debut.
Gegard Mousasi vs. Rameau Thierry SokoudjouIn a competitive back-and-forth 205 pound bout, Strikeforce LHW champ, Gegard Mousasi (27-2-1), earned a 2nd round (3:43) TKO over “The African Assassin” Sokoudjou (7-5) on the main card CBS broadcast Saturday night. After a 1st round that could have been scored for either fighter, Mousasi took charge using his submission skills matching Sokoudjou’s strength. Using a kimura, Mousasi rolled Sokoudjou to a prone position and then finished him off with several unanswered punches to the head and body. Mousasi, who last suffered a loss in August of 2006, has won fourteen straight bouts. And after defeating Babalu for the 205 pound belt, he makes it 2-0 in Strikeforce action with the defeat of Sokoudjou. Sokoudjou, who was coming in off the strength of back-to-back wins in the DREAM super-hulk tournament, loses in his first opportunity in Strikeforce.
Jake Shields vs. Jason MillerJake Shields (24-4-1) captured the vacated Strikeforce middleweight belt defeating an active Jason “Mayhem” Miller (22-7) via unanimous decision with scores of 48-47, 49-46, 49-46. Shields wouldn’t allow Miller to establish his striking game at all; utilizing takedowns anytime the fighters were brought to their feet. Shields clearly outworked his opponent on the mat during the 2nd round, however Miller made the fights’ slickest move at the end of the 3rd round. After reversing a dominant Shields’ position, Miller has a rear naked choke locked in until the bell sounded ending the round. Shields made the most of his second life, answering whatever Miller had in store for him during the majority of the final two rounds. Miller, although competitive, hasn’t shown it with his record, going 1-2 with 1 no contest over the last year and a half. Although he was unsuccessful in his Strikeforce debut, he should get to see many other opportunities with the organization with upcoming events. Shields hasn’t lost in thirteen straight fights, losing last in December 2004. After cleaning out the welterweight division, he has now gone 2-0 in the Strikeforce middleweight division.
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett RogersFedor Emelianenko (31-1) dropped Brett “The Grim” Rogers (10-1) early in the 2 d frame with a wild but hard right hand at the 1:48 mark. Rogers, who up to that point was competitive, fell to the mat and wasn’t able to recover in time to keep fighting. Brett Rogers stood toe-to-toe with the number one heavyweight in the world for a round and a half until making one crucial mistake costing him a chance at shocking the MMA world. After breaking his opponents’ nose and battering his face, Rogers failed to cover up or protect his face when Fedor telegraphed one of his famous looping right hooks. Unfortunately for Rogers the right hook sent him to the mat and was followed by two more hammer-fists that put an end to a surprising even match-up. Fedor continues to state his case as one of the best fighters in the history of MMA with his eleventh straight win and undefeated record over his last twenty-eight bouts. Rogers had recorded ten straight stoppages before falling to Fedor this past Saturday. He is now 2-1 in the Strikeforce heavyweight division; Fedor is 1-0. > Fedor Emelianenko vs Brett Rogers video
