Picks, results & fight recaps provided for every fight on The Ultimate Fighter 10 finale fight card

On Saturday, December 5, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will put on its second Spike TV-televised fight card in as many months when The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale kicks off at The Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you will be unable to watch the event, be sure to check out the official blog of ProFighting-fans.com for live, round-by-round results and coverage of the entire televised main card on our MMA & UFC news blog.

The TUF 10 Finale is set to be one of the most stacked in recent series history, with the two finalists from the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter set to collide in a battle to determine the next heavyweight TUF winner. Also in action on the card, undefeated up and coming light heavyweight Jon “Bones” Jones will look to establish himself as a serious threat to the top of the division with a win over TUF 3 contestant Matt “The Hammer” Hamill, a powerful wrestler who has only been finished by one man in his professional career, former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin.

After compiling a quick undefeated record in 2008 fighting on the local New England circuit, Jon Jones, a 22 year-old Greco-Roman Wrestling standout, was awarded a chance to fight in the UFC, debuting with a Unanimous Decision victory over Andre Gusmao in August of 2008. Since that win, Jones has become one of the most talked-about young fighters in the sport with back-to-back wins over highly regarded light heavyweight competitors Stephan Bonnar and Jane O’Brien in his last two appearances inside the Octagon. Should he get by Hamill on December 5, Jones will have gone a long way in proving that he belongs in the cage with the upper echelon of one of the most stacked divisions in the world.

While Hamill does not have the hype behind him that his opponent does, he remains one of the most gifted and gritty prospects in the division, combining suffocating wrestling skills with a powerful chin and underrated striking. This match is one that simply cannot be missed, as it will establish one of these fighters as a serious contender in the 205lb division going forward.

Also on the card, lightweight standout and New Jersey native Frankie “The Answer” Edgar will look to keep his streak alive with a win over undefeated prospect Matt Veach, who fights out of the famed H.I.T. squad. After suffering the first loss of his professional career to highly-ranked contender Gray Maynard last year, Edgar has gone on to post back-to-back victories over Hermes Franca and Sean Sherk respectively, two of the most experienced and well-respected men in the division’s history. As long as he can keep Veach from playing the role of spoiler, Edgar should position himself in line for consideration for a shot at the UFC Lightweight Championship sometime next year.
