Sportsbooks Release Future UFC Betting Odds

Jon Jones -160 vs Mauricio Rua +130 World Light Heavyweight Title

Anderson Silva -240 vs Georges St Pierre +190 World Middleweight Title

February 6, 2011- Super Bowl Sunday just got even better. Leading MMA OddsMaker Nick Kalikas has posted lines on 2 UFC Super Fights scheduled for later this year.

The Jon Jones vs Mauricio Rua Title fight was announced last night at UFC 126. The fight became a reality after an unfortunate injury sustained by top light heavyweight contender Rashad Evans. MMA OddsMakers started working on the betting odds after last night’s UFC event. “Really excited about Jones vs Rua” says Kalikas. “As soon as the announcement was made I started getting emails and direct messages via Twitter asking me for the Jones vs Rua odds.” What might come as a surprise to most, Kalikas opened current UFC Champion Mauricio Rua as the underdog at the Sportsbooks.

Here's how they match up: Challenger Jon Jones- Professional MMA Record: 12-1-0, Height: 6'4" (194cm) Reach: 84.5" (215cm) – Champion Mauricio Rua- Professional MMA Record: 19-4-0, Height: 6'0" (183cm) Reach: 76.0" (193cm).

Intimidation Clothing will be in attendance at the Absolute Action MMA event on October 2nd, the first all-female MMA event in Kentucky history.

“It's hard not to believe the hype surrounding Jon Jones. We've seen him improving and becoming more dominant with each fight. His athleticism combined with his size and skill presents allot of problems for most. Rua on the other hand is coming off a serious knee injury which required surgery and long lay off.” Kalikas's opening line was -160 Favoring Jon Jones.

Translated in to percentages this gives Jones a 62% edge on winning the fight. “Taking all things in consideration, Jones should be the slight favorite heading in to this fight. I'm sure most experts would agree.”

In addition to the Jones vs Rua line, Kalikas has also added another “SuperFight” the fans have been pleading for.

“Everyone wants to see GSP vs Silva. With Anderson Silva's huge win last night the over Vitor Belfort, the dream match just took another step towards reality.” If George St Pierre can get by Jake Shields in April, then this fight should be on deck for later this year. “Another difficult fight to predict. This fight will be contested at Middleweight which should give Silvathe slight advantage.”

Here's how they match up: Challenger Georges St Pierre- Professional MMA Record: 21-2-0, Height: 5'10" (178cm) Reach: 76.0" (193cm) – Champion Anderson Silva- Professional MMA Record: 28-4-0, Height: 6'2" (188cm) Reach: 77.5" (197cm). “On the feet, no question Silva has the advantage. On the ground, St Pierre should have the slight advantageusing his superior wrestling for control. The question is will St Pierre be able to utilize his wrestling against the much larger Silva.” Kalikas's opening line for this fight was -240 Favoring Anderson Silva. Translated in to percentages this gives Silvaa 70% edge on winning the fight “Not an easy line to set. You have two of the sport’s most popular fighters, not to mentionboth considered to be amongst the best Pound 4 Pound fighters in the World.”

Kalikas expects the lines to have significant movement early on at the sportsbooks. “Both of these fights should see allot ofaction from the public out of the gate, which should cause some early movement/changes. I think as we get closer to fightday for both match ups we'll see the lines settle back close to where they opened.”
