The Ultimate Women's Challenge

The Ultimate Women's Challenge MMA reality show will debut on December 28th

With the UFC's The Ultimate Fighter show having tremendous success this year, it's not surprising that other shows would follow the MMA wave with hopes to gain some of those viewers.

However with that said, the "Ultimate Women’s Challenge" is actually wishing not to be so closely compared to the male fighting Spike TV show.

UWC has gathered 16 female fighters to reside in a house together and endure a few weeks of insane MMA training. Much like on TUF one woman will be eliminated as the conclusion of each episode.

Lyle Howry is a producer and long time fan of women's MMA that's very passionate about pursuing the well deserved recognition for these ladies on a more comparable level to what UFC does for it's male competitors. He wants these fighters to be seen worldwide as real people that are mothers and well educated, not just some girls beating one another up in a cage.

UWC was originally named "Ultimate Women’s Combat" but altered the title to be more feasible for a mainstream audience. Howry has it organized for two seasons consisting of 16 episodes each. Dojo Fight Gear, Take Down radio and Tussle Fight Gear are just some of the sponsors making this program a reality.

  • Kristin Molina
  • Angela Magana
  • Alexis Davis

Forty-four year old retired MMA fighter Bas "el guapo" Rutten is set to host the show alongside model Joanna Krupa. There will be some exciting twists to the program with celebrity cameos and judges. Different well-known trainers as well, with Cyborg listed as one of them appearing.

Check listings for NBC affiliates to be airing the show with its first episode to be viewed on December 28th, 2009.
