UFC 123 Pay-Per-View Play-by-Play: Lyota “The Dragon” Machida (16-1) vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (30-8)

Tonight’s UFC 123 “Rampage vs. Machida”  live blog is brought to you by Fighters Guard MMA Agents and Intimidation MMA Apparel.

1st round – The referee for this main event will be Herb Dean.  Jackson paces after Machida but cant find him as Machida moves away quickly.  Machida lands two kicks to the inside of Jackson’s leg.  Machida finally misses with an inside leg kick and Jackson comes in after him.  He doesnt land much, instead misses and almost falls down.  They tie up against the octagon fence and Jackson uses some foot stomps.  Jackson is now working his punches to the body of Machida.  Machida, meanwhile is using inside knees.  Machida lands a knee but Jackson defends.  Jackson answers a Machida blow to the body by clinching with his opponent.  They trade knees to the midsection and tie up against the octagon fence.  They seperate and Jackson comes forward and grazes Machida with a left hand.  Jackson misses with three punches as Machida moves away.  Machida hits with an inside leg kick as the 1st round ends.  Jackson 10-9

2nd round – Both fighters look fresh coming out for the second round.  Machida lands a knee off the beginning of the second round.  Jackson grabs hold of the waist of Machida and presses him against the octagon fence.  As they seperate, Machida complains of a low blow and Herb Dean seperates the two.  The action is on again and Jackson fakes a kick and backs away.  Jackson just misses with a left hand but hits with a knee to the body of Machida.  Machida moves and presses Jackson against the fence, however Jackson throws Machida on his back.  They get back up and clinch against the octagon fence.  Machida presses off and Jackson just misses with a right hand.  They clinch again and Machida takes Jackson to the octagon fence where he tries to deliver a knee.  Jackson nails Machida with a knee up the middle and then continues with an uppercut to Machida’s body.  Jackson catches Machida with an uppercut but it doesnt seem to faze Machida.  Machida continues to run away and Jackson continues to run after him.  He finds him and presses Machida against the octagon fence.  Machida is working to take Jackson to the ground but Jackson defends.  Jackson moves after Mchida as the middle round ends.  Jackson 10-9

3rd round – The last round is on and Machida is first to hit, he hits with an inside leg kick.  Jackson answers with an outside leg kick.  Jackson throws a combination but isnt coming close to connecting with Machida.  Machida connects and lands several strikes on Jackson.  Machida takes Jackson to the ground and jumps into half guard.  Jackson is rocked and trying to stay active from the bottom.  Machida is trying to pass Jackson’s guard but for the moment, Jackson defends.  Machida now turns his attention to a kimura.  Jackson defends and works to get out from the bottom position.  Machida finally gets mount and smothers Jackson from top position.  Machida lands a couple of elbows from the top position.  He now turns his attention to an arm kimura and Rampage gets back up and trods after Machida.  They tie up and Machida presses Jackson against the octagon fence.  Machida lands a knee to the body and drags Jackson to the body.  Jackson gets in Machida’s guard and is stuck there as the final round ends.  Machida 10-9

Official Decision - Jackson over Machida via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

1st round- This co-main event will be officiated by Dan Mirgliotta.  The action is on with Penn tagging Hughes with a left hand.   After a brief exchange,  Penn drops Hughes with a hard right hand and knocks Hughes out cold on his back. 

Official Decision – Penn over Hughes via 1st round (0:21) KO

UFC 123 Pay-Per-View Play-by-Play: Maiquel “Big Rig” Falcao (25-3, 1 NC) vs. Gerald “Hurricane” Harris (16-2)

1st round – The official for this middleweight bout is Dan Mirgliotta.  The action is on and Harris jabs his right hand into the face of Falcao.  Harris misses with a big left hand, but then puts a right jab in Falcao’s face.  Again, Harris hits Falcao with a right hand.  Harris leaps but misses with a right hand.  The crows begins to show their displeasure with a chorus of boos, but both fighters continue to show patience.  Harris puts another right hand in Falcao’s face.  Harris is clipped and put to the ground with a knee.  Falcao is on top and begins to drop hammer fists to Harris’ head.  Falcao continues to pound away on Harris’ face and gets his arm under the neck of Harris.  Harris scrambles and then goes to the ground where Falcao gets an arm under the chin and almost chokes him out.  The bell saves Harris for the moment.  Falcao 10-9

2nd round – The 2nd round is on and Falcao looks confident.  Harris is dropped again  but gets up and swings away.  Falcao drops him a second time and takes his back.  Falcao gets his arm under the chin and is slipping it under .  Harris somehow scrambles and gets to his feet, but Falcao gets underhooks and presses Harris against the octagon fence.  They seperate and Harris shoots in for a takedown.  Harris goes in for a double leg takedown but Falcao defends for the moment.  Harris continues to work for the takedown, and gets it.  Harris then delivers a knee to the face of Falcao before they seperate once again.  Falcao lands a head kick and Harris shoots in for another takedown.  Falcao begins to hammer on Harris’ head with fists.  Falcao is dropping right hands on Harris’ head.  Harris is barely hanging on and looks to be stalling for the end of the second round.   They get up and the round ends with Harris looking very tired.  Falcao 10-9

3rd round – Harris looks very fatigued coming out for the final round, Falcao looks fresh.  Harris jumps in with a right hand but misses.  Harris circles around the octagon occasionally throwing a left hand.  Falcao is patient with his approach.  Harris continues to fake his takedowns but not show much offense.  Harris has his right hands blocked.  Falcao lands an inside leg kick as Harris hits with a left jab.  Harris misses with an uppercut and then backs off.  Harris misses with a left hand and then comes in with a combination but misses.  Not much action is going on and Harris shoots in.  Falcao defends the takedown and shakes Harris off.  Falcao misses with a head kick and Harris lands his.  The round ends with very little action.  Harris 10-9

Official Decision – Falcao over Harris via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-28)

UFC 123 Pay-Per-View Play-by-Play: Tim “The Barbarian” Boetsch (12-3) vs. Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis (7-0)

1st round – The referee for this pay-per-view broadcast bout is Herb Dean.  After a touch of gloves, the action is on.  Davis has his high head kick blocked but then blocks a left hook by Boetsch.  Davis answers with another head kick attempt, however it is blocked again.  Boetsch hits Davis with a right hand in the back of the head.  Boetsch catches a kick from Davis and then is popped with a left hand in the nose.  Davis gets his arms around the waitst of Boetsch and puts him firmly on his back.  Davis leaps into half-guard and begins to hammer away on Boetsch’s body.  Boetsch isnt generating much offense and Davis continues to land elbow after elbow on his head and body.  Boetsch scrambles trying to get back to full guard but cant get there, Davis continues to utilize elbows.  Boetsch finally scrambles to full guard but only for a moment as he gets back up to his feet.  Davis lands a couple of knees before the bell sounds for the end of the round.  Davis 10-9

2nd round – Boetsch blocks a kick from Davis and then denies a takedown attempt.  Davis continues to pressure Boetsch and puts his back against the octagon fence.  Boetsch throws Davis off but he continues to stay busy and work for a takedown.  Boetsch delivers a knee to the body of Davis but Davis quickly regains dominant position.  Davis shoots for a takedown and gets it, however falls into a guillotine choke attempt, but gets out within seconds.  Davis takes Boetsch’s arm and puts it behind his back.  Boetsch does his best to defend but cant fight the submission anymore and taps out from a kimura.

UFC 123 Pay-Per-View Play-by-Play: Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon (18-5) vs. George Sotiropoulos (13-2)

1st round – The referee is charge of this pay-per-view broadcast is Mark Fennell.  The action is  on and both come out swinging.  A clinch is initiated by Sotiropoulos, but it is quickly abandon.  Lauzon shoots in with some combinations, but cant land anything significant.  Sotiropoulos has his shoot stuffed and is clipped with a left hand.  Sotiropoulos shoots in once again and is popped with some Lauzon strikes, however he keeps his position and presses Lauzon against the octagon fence.  Lauzon denies Sotiropoulos his takedown and they square off back in the center of the octagon.  Sotiropoulos pulls guard and gets Lauzon on the ground, where he falls into half guard.  Lauzon stands up and then is taken back to the ground on his back where Sotiropoulos takes his back.  Sotiropoulos controls Lauzon’s body and begins to deliver elbows to the body.  Sotiropoulos finally gets full mount but cant do much with that position.  Lauzon escapes and gets out from underneath as the bell sound for the end of the round.  Lauzon 10-9

2nd round – Sotiropoulos comes out with some strikes as the middle round begins.  Sotiropoulos changes his mind and goes in for a single leg takedown, which Lauzon stuffs and denies.  Sotiropoulos continues to go for the takedown but is denied once again.  They reset in the center of the octagon and Sotiropoulos throws Lauzon to the ground where he jumps on top.  Sotiropoulos falls into north-south position and immediately goes for a kimura.  Sotiropoulos keeps his dominant positon and quickly submits Lauzon with his kimura on the left arm. 

Official Decision – Sotiropoulos over Lauzon via 2nd round (2:43) (kimura) submission
