Junie Browning back in action, Thomas vs. Melendez set, Kimbo in the UFC. Trigg vs. Serra and MMA Judges

Judges- UFC 106 had its share of controversy as Forrest Griffin defeated Tito Ortiz via a split decision. The winner isn’t the point of contention but the fact that one judge scored all three rounds to Griffin is ridiculous. In most MMA events big or small there is questionable scoring. Apologists state “don’t leave it to the judges, finish the fight”; it is not that easy especially in a three round fight. There are judges scoring the fights who simply know nothing about the sport. In fact many are washed up boxing judges. The state commissions need to be more proactive and stringent in the certification process.

MMA Big Show- Junie Browning returns to action after being released from the UFC for an out of the cage incident. Browning was 1-1 inside the Octagon and holds a career record of 3-1. Junie is a big draw and no doubt will create some buzz at the Belterra Casino on November 28th when he faces Scott Cornwell.

Strikeforce- Josh Thomson will finally face Gilbert Melendez for the Strikeforce Lightweight Title. The two battled in June of 2006 where Thomson upset Melendez. Since then they were scheduled to fight on two different occasions but Thomson was forced to withdraw due to injury. This fight adds to an already impressive card to take place on December 19th. We have also confirmed former NFL star Herschel Walker will make his cage debut on January 30th.

UFC- It has been confirmed that Kimbo Slice will battle Houston Alexander on The Ultimate Fighter Finale on December 5th. The event features Matt Hamill vs. Jon Jones which should be a very good fight in addition to the Heavyweight Final for the six figure contract. This will be a very entertaining event.  It is rumored that Matt Serra will battle Frank Trigg in February.  If it happens that will be an entertaining fight between two guys capable of hyping an event.
