MMA Big Show Browning vs. Cornwell

Welcome to the live blog from MMA Big Show in Belterra Indiana.  A packed house here to see Browning vs. Cornwell.  A very knowledgeable crowd on hand.

Roger Bowling is the referee on the night.  Luke Zachrich is in attendance.  Rob Radford is providing color commentary tonight.

Did I mention the ring girls are hot?  The blonde in particular.  Its always a nice addition to the events in the cage.

Shawn Tompkins is here with Junie Browning.  Tompkins, formerly of Xtreme Couture is one of the biggest named trainers in the sport.

1st Bout: Lightweight-Ryan Stamper defeated Josh Pratt via tapout due to an armbar 2:53 into the 1st round.

2nd Bout: 160lbs- Nathan Campbell defeated Josh Lobenstein in the 1st round due to strikes.

3rd Bout: Lightheavy Weight- Will Northern defeated Mark Tucker via tapout due to knees 2:28 into the 1st round.

4th Bout: Heavyweight- Quinton Simpson defeated Duprie Moon Jr in the 2nd round via tapout due to a guillotine choke 2:20 in the 2nd round.

5th Bout: Bantamweight- Jake Bello defeated Dustin Howell :27 into the 1st round due to an injury.  Howell dislocated his shoulder.

6th Bout: Batamweight- Tyger Banks defeated Tim Riffle via a UD.  A great performance by Banks.

7th Bout: Middleweight- Chris Potee defeated Joe Cox :48 into the 1st round via tapout due to a RNC.

8th Bout: Joe Pegg defeated Roger Hahn via tapout due to strikes 1:56 into the 2nd round.

Intermission:

9th Bout: Welterweight- Michael Dave defeated Brian Francisco 1:56 into the 2nd round via tapout due to strikes.

10th Bout: Welterweight- Dustin Center defeated Corey Farrell via tapout due to a RNC 1:59 into the 1st round.

11th Bout: Lightheavy- Danny Surface vs. Deric Gibson- A good 1st round with Surface landing early blows.  Gibson took control of the round with a takedown which should have won him the round.  The 2nd round was stopped as Surface was deducted a point by Bowling for an illegal blow to the back of Gibson’s head.  With the point deduction the round is a tie.  The third round will decide the fight.  Surface mauled Gibson the entire 3rd round.  He is a strong guy.  It should be Surface via a UD but could be a draw due to the point deduction.  Official Decision: Draw

Next up is one of the best amateurs in the states.  Chris Bennett will battle Brian Karmolinsk.  Bennett is only 19 years old but has been dominant.

12 Bout: Lightweight- Brian Karmolinsk vs. Chris Bennett- For the Ammy Lightweight Title: Bennett dominated the fight, surprisingly with his hands forcing Bowling to stop the fight :49 into round 1.  With the victory Bennett goes to 16-1 as an ammy.  In my opinion Bennett should turn pro for his next fight.

Pro Fights:

Middleweight- Kevin Barkdull 3-1 vs. Mojo Horne 6-2: Mojo needs this victory to get back on track.  With a chorus of Mojo Mojo behind him Horne quickly took control of the ground taking Barkdull to the ground.  Mojo landed a series of blows to the ribs forcing Kevin to give up his back.  Mojo flattened him out and sunk in a deep RNC forcing Barkdull to tap.  Official Decision Mojo Horne via tapout due to a RNC 4:01 into the 1st round. A big win for Mojo to get back on track.

Main Event:

Lightweight- Junie Browning vs. Scott Cornwell- The crowd is clearly on Cornwell’s side.  Browning was greeted by a chorus  Browning dominated from start to finish.  It was evident the difference in Browning vs. a local fighter.  Browning was very good on the ground winning via a tapout due to a triangle choke 3:13 into the 1st round.  It was only Cornwell’s 2nd pro fight.  The kid has a good future.  Browning showed how classless he is as always pulling his pants down after the fight and walking around with his ass showing.  Classless and that is why he will never be a star on a big level.  He did this why Cornwell was giving his post fight interview.  Roger Bowling told him to pull his pants up and thats enough.  Its a shame Roger didn’t deck him.  Browning is the kind of fighter who gives the sport a bad name.  Here is hoping he never sees the UFC Octagon again.  Browning then grabbed the microphone and threw out a profanity laced tirade.

For all you promoters out there.  Do not sign this clown!

A great night of fights.  Until next time…Scott Dryden.
