Roger Bowling adds another victory, Chris Bennett’s last ammy fight, Fedor vs. Werdum and plenty more

MMA Update – 03-02-2010

Andrei Arlovski- The Pit Bull announced via a mass email that he has signed a multi-fight deal and will face Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in May.

Chris Bennett- The Samurai finished his amateur career with a victory over Muhammed Abdullah at 170lbs.  Bennett weighed in at 161 for the fight but was able to overcome the strength differential and finish the fight with a guillotine choke.  Bennett will make his pro debut in April.

Fedor- Sources have confirmed that Fedor will battle Fabricio Werdum in May.  Werdum is a world class jiu-jitsu practitioner but will not be able to handle the great Fedor.  The winner of Fedor-Werdum will likely get the winner of Overeem-Rogers.

Jon Fitch- The 21-3 welterweight recently spoke of his desire to get back in the cage with GSP.  Fitch believes he has improved to the point that he is currently a better fighter than GSP.  Jon also believes that Dan Hardy’s title shot is premature and more qualified fighters were passed over.

Roger Bowling- Welterweight prospect Roger Bowling was victorious again as he defeated the very tough Jerrod Appenzeller.  With the victory Bowling moved to 7-0.  Roger was a featured interview on Inside MMA.

Alistair Overeem- The Dutchmen announced via his twitter account that he will face Brett Rogers in May.  The bout will likely be a non-title fight.  This will be a battle between two behemoths.  Overeem is a freak athlete and impressive striker but will have his hands full with the striking ability of Rogers.  This should be a great bout.

Strikeforce- The organization shuffled up cards and now has two strong events over April and May.  The April 17 Strikeforce card on CBS will feature Henderson vs. Shields for the Middleweight Title.  The May 15 Strikeforce fight card will be loaded with heavyweight battles as Fedor will face Werdum, Arlovski vs. Silva and Overeem vs. Rogers.  If the fight cards do not suffer any casualties Strikeforce should make a major impact in front of a national audience.

MMA fans will have a good run from March through May as both Strikeforce and the UFC have multiple events.  For coverage of all events with both previews and recaps visit www.profighting-fans.com
