145 lb Pro Title Fight- Donny Walker (Griffon Rawl) vs. Billy Vaughan (Buckeye MMA)
This fight is brought to you by Intimidation Clothing. Make sure you check out their fine line of
MMA gear at www.IntimidationClothing.com. Both the challenger (Vaughan) and the champion
(Walker) are sponsored by Intimidation Clothing. Walker was wearing the new Winged Skulls
design, while Walker is wearing his own signature shirt produced by Intimidation. The artistic
staff at Intimidation is really doing incredible work.
You may remember that Walker won the belt by defeating a tough Mike Nesto, while on
the same night, Vaughan defeated highly-touted Ryan Lang, a 4-time Ohio State Wrestling
Champion in high school as well as an All-American Wrestler at Northwestern.
Round 1
This fight’s for the Pro Series Featherweight Belt. Vaughan throws wild punches that are
blocked by Walker. Vaughan looks for a shot and looks to have cut Walker’s brow. Vaughan
throws more wild uppercuts and uses them to set up a takedown. Vaughan drops back for a
heelhook, Walker looks composed in his defense and throws a flurry of punches and elbows
on his way to being on top of Vaughan. Walker is in sidecontrol and has Vaughan’s right arm
tied up. Walker takes Vaughan’s back and quickly sinks in a rear naked choke. Vaughan taps
immediately. Donny Walker leaps up on the cage above me and wipes the blood off of his head
and licks it. That fight was a testament for the toughness of Walker, as he weathered a flurry
of punches and a heelhook before submitting a tough opponent. Expect big things from Donny
Walker in the future, especially since Jason Dent is behind him and is likely in the ear of the
WEC/UFC supporting his teammate. Additionally, expect to hear from Billy Vaughan, as that
kid is tough and has a huge upside.

Mike Nesto vs. Donny “Eagle Eye” Walker

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

The lights go down and the expertly narrated hype video rolls on the big screens. The NAAFS Pro Series Featherweight Title is on the line here. Now would be a good time to let the readers know about www.IntimidationClothing.com and www.IntimidationMMA.com, a proud sponsor of Donny “Eagle Eye” Walker. Walker is  also sponsored by profighting-fans.com Ever hear of those guys? Check out Intimidation for the latest in MMA-themed apparel, including the recently-released Donny Walker signature t-shirt. Many in attendance tonight are sporting the shirts and they are sharp-looking in person.

GriffonRawl brings Walker out to the cage and all are clad in the previously-mentioned Donny Walker Signature T-Shirt. Nesto is the 2006 NAAFS Amateur Lightweight Champion. Both fighters have comparable builds, but Nesto is known for his Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Nessto takes  quick shot and Donny is fighting hit hard. Nesto gets the takedown and Donny gets guard. Nesto looks for a D’Arce choke and Donny fights through it. Another D’Arce attempt and Donny turns into Nesto. Nesto drops for a guillotine, bails and moves to rubber guard. Nesto is one cool customer as is Walker, who is fighting of submission after submission. Nesto throws up a triangle and cuts Donny’s hairline. Nesto transitions to an armbar and nearly submits Walker, who has his hand poised to tap. Walker holds tough as round 1 ends. 10-9 for Nesto, possibly 10-8 with a dozen or more submission attempts.

The doctor takes a long hard look at the cut on Walker’s head and says Walker is good to go. Nesto shoots quickly and Walker adjusts and refuses to be taken down. Nesto is still working for the takedown. Walker reverses position and scores the takedown and moves to half guard. Walker is raining down punches now. Back to Nesto’s guard. Nesto hips up and Walker goes for a very unconventional spinning kick towards the grounded Nesto. Nesto throws more elbows and has cut the other side of Walker’s forehead. Round 2 10-9 Walker.

Nesto shoots to begin round 3 and after a brief scramble, Walker slips loose. Nesto wants Walker to jump into his guard but Walker wants a stand-up fight. Front kick by Walker. Low blow by Walker and Nesto is given time to regain his breath. There is a short break in the action as the referee is reattaching the padding to one of the cage posts. Back to action and Nesto shoots. Walker is not giving it up easily. Nesto is eating elbows for his efforts. Nesto goes to his back and Walker is on his feet. Walker throws an errant ax kick and catches Nesto below the belt as time expires. Walker10-9.

Round 4. Walker throws a jumping spinning kick and Nesto shoots for a takedown.  Walker ends up on top and begins grinding away. Walker looks to pass and the referee stands the fight up due to lack of action. Nesto shoots and eats a knee. Walker throws hammer fists and elbows to the skull of Nesto. Nesto cannot finish the takedown.  Walker beckons Nesto to stand up.  Walker gets in sideback control and is giving Nesto a beating. Knees to the ribs, body and head punches. Since Round 1, we have seen a different Donny Walker and a tired Mike Nesto. Round 4, no question, goes to Donny Walker.

The fighters touch gloves to start round 5. Nesto on a shot. He takes walker to his butt. Walker’s back to the cage and now to his feet. Nesto in on yet another shot. Walker seems to be calculating his next move, holding onto the punches and elbows that he threw previously. Nesto goes to his back and Walker begins peppering the hammer fists. Nesto keeps digging for the takedown. Walker’s elbows to the ribs of Nesto are really making Nesto wince. Nesto will not abandon the single leg and Walker keeps defending. Nesto scores the takedown at the buzzer and this fight is going to the cards. The fighters hug in the center of the cage. Great sportsmanship, regardless of the winner.  The amount of punishment dished out by the fighters will leave both men sore for the next few days.

The judges score the fight for Donny Walker in a unanimous decision. The Madison Police Department now has a champion among their ranks. Congratulations to new NAAFS Featherweight Pro Series Donny Walker.

In the post-fight interview, Walker is asked about the possibility of a call-up to the WEC, but Donny says he will fight no matter where he is signed.  Nesto hangs out in the cage to once again congratulate Walker. Class act, that Nesto.
