Carlos “Natural Born Killer” Condit is a mixed martial artist fighter that fights in the welterweight (170 lbs) division in the UFC. Condit is well known for his skills as a striker but also is very skilled in submissions as well. Condit is an Albuquerque, NM native that trains out of Arizona Combat Sports.

The “Natural Born Killer” began his competitive MMA career in 2002. As a teenager, Condit began his professional career on a 7 fight win streak. He fought many of his first fights in small independent organizations. His first loss didn’t come until his eighth career fight when Carlo Prater caught Condit with a triangle choke in the first round of a FightWorld card.

Condit really began to take notice when he began to fight for the Rumble on the Rock and Pancrase promotions. It was while he was fighting in Hawaii for ROTR that he won two of his most notable fights of his career. He defeated both Renato Verissimo and Frank Trigg with first round stoppages.

He did go through some letdown shortly after two of his biggest wins. After his win over Frank Trigg, Condit was defeated in his next two fights against top level talent. One of the worlds’ best welterweights in Jake Shields won via unanimous decision at ROTR 19. Patrick Healy also got to Condit in his next bout and finished him with a 3rd round submission at an Extreme Wars 3 fight.

After his loss to Patrick Healy, Condit fought back by winning three in a row in the Pancrase tournament. He then earned a contract with Zuffa-owned World Extreme Cagefighting. In his WEC debut he defeated Kyle Jensen easily in the first round with a rear naked choke.

After finishing Jensen, Condit got his chance at the WEC welterweight title against John Alessio. Carlos finished Alessio for the title and went on to defend the title three more times in the WEC. As champ, he defeated skilled competitors such as Brock Larson, Hiromitsu Miura and got some redemption against Carlo Prater.

It was at this point that the WEC decided to exclude its higher weight divisions. Condit, among other top WEC talent in the welterweight, middleweight and light heavyweight divisions were transferred to the UFC.

Condit now finds himself making his UFC debut riding an 8 fight win streak. He also will go down as the last Welterweight champion in WEC history. He will now face Dutch fighter, Martin Kampann at UFC Fight Night 18 on April 1, 2009 in Nashville, Tennesse. With a win over Kampann, he will be an immediate contender for the UFC title.
