Fighter Profile: Greg Nagy
Born: Hungary Height: 6’ 3” Weight: 215 Born: 26
Greg Nagy is a 26-year-old mixed martial artist who is set to appear on the big-stage January 30 th opposite former Heisman Trophy winner, Herschel Walker, at the Strikeforce event Strikeforce: Miami. Nagy, who was born in Hungary, grew up in New Jersey and recently relocated to the Phoenix, Arizona area, trains at the Rage in the Cage Training Center where he is worked out by head coach Roland Sarria. The 6 foot 3 inch heavyweight fought his first professional bout in August 2009 at Rage in the Cage 132. Up against fellow rookie, Robert Principato, Nagy battered him around the cage for 1:32 before the doctor stopped the fight and awarded him the TKO victory. He took very little damage in his pro debut but also more importantly gained a lot of momentum for his sophomore fight. He wasted very little time in getting back in action. His next fight took place three months later at RITC 136 when he was matched up against (1-1) Francisco Navarro. The bout was packed full of momentum swings throughout all 3 of the 5:00 rounds. It was Navarro that convincingly won two of the three rounds to take the unanimous decision victory. The loss dropped Nagy’s career record to 1-1.
It took almost 15 months until he would get back into action. Little did he know how he would be given the biggest career opportunity to date when he was offered the Strikeforce: Miami main event bout. With a victory, Nagy can legitimately catapult his name to all new heights. However, a loss and he probably falls deeper into obscure depths.
