Marius “The Whitemare” Zaromskis is a nine-year professional mixed martial artist who is well-versed in both wrestling and kickboxing. Zaromskis hails from Lithuania, however trains in London, England with the London Shootfighters. The 29-year-old is currently signed to fight for both DREAM in Japan and Strikeforce in North America.

Beginning his career in February of 2000 in his Lithuanian homeland, Zaromskis split a pair of bouts while fighting at the Knight of the Ring tournament. He easily knocked out fellow countryman Viktoras Kontrimas with strikes but in the next round was caught with punches and then stomped out by Ricardas Jancevicius, another Lithuanian.

Over five years later Zaromskis returned to MMA, this time after relocating to England, he won a pair of fights in two different British promotions. He first defeated American Jack Mason while fighting for the UKMMAC organization, and then defeated Lithuanian Kazys Grigaliunas via KO in a ZT – Fight Night event.

In May of 2006, he began his tenure with Britain’s top mixed martial arts promotion – Cage Rage. Over a two-year period, “The Whitemare” fought seven times and compiled a very respectable 5 wins and 2 losses. His wins came against British sluggers such as Ross Mason and Ross Pointon and his losses were both at the hands of Brit Che Mills. In his final Cage Rage (26) bout in May 2008, Zaromskis was defeated via TKO (due to a cut) for the Cage Rage British Welterweight Championship.

He returned to Lithuania in November 2008 to fight for Bushido – Lithuania. The developing welterweight easily picked up his ninth career victory with a 50 second TKO victory over Polish fighter Jedrzej Kubski. Although the victory was expected, it helped in erasing the memory of his second career loss to Che Mills.

In April 2004 at DREAM 8, Zaromskis joined the DREAM 2009 Welterweight Grand Prix where many labeled him as a “dark horse” to win the tournament – at best. He first defeated Seichi Ikemoto via unanimous decision in a one-sided fight during the opening round of the tournament. In July at DREAM 10, he stopped Hayato “Mach” Sakurai in the semifinals and American Jason High in the finals to win the Welterweight GP Tournament. His last two victories both came via 1st round (head kick) knockouts.

At DREAM 12 “The White Cage” in October 2009, Zaromskis added another victory to his resume when he tallied his third consecutive head kick knockout. He took a flurry of punches from Ho Bae Myeon only to catch the Korean 19-seconds in with the head kick. The non-title win marked his 13 th career victory overall and 5th victory in a row.

With his current status as the DREAM Welterweight Champion, Zaromskis has gained the respect of many ranking boards across the world. Many list him among the top-ten welterweights in the world. That reputation will be tested on January 30th atop the Strikeforce: Miami fight card when he takes on Nick Diaz for the Strikeforce Welterweight Championship. In October 2009, he signed a multi-fight deal to compete in the San Jose-based promotion.
