In early February 2009, Strikeforce completed the acquisition of the video library and the contracts of 42 fighters, from ProElite, the parent company of EliteXC. A few days later it was announced that Strikeforce had agreed to a 3-year deal to broadcast on Showtime for as many as 16 fight events per year, as well as a deal with CBS for an option to produce up to 4 fight events. Along with Strikeforce's larger events to be broadcast by Showtime, Strikeforce will has begun a new series of events called ShoMMA, a concept similar to ShoXC or the UFC's Fight Night events, with shows highlighting up-and-coming Mixed Martial Arts fighters.
