Top Bellator Bantamweight Fighter Rankings:
1. Zach Makovsky - (15-2, 6-0 BFC) - When Zach Mackovsky emerged as Bellator's Season 3 Bantamweight Tournament winner he bacame the promotion's first ever 135 pound Champion. While the promotion has not kept Makovsky very busy with just two fights since in October 2010, the recent crowning of Eduardo Dantas as the Bellator Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament winner will mean the champ finally has a title defense upcoming, expected to come during Season 6 this Spring.
2. Eduardo Dantas - (13-2, 3-0 BFC) - After scoring an impressive win by flying knee KO at Bellator 51, Dantas, like his Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament final opponent Alexis Vila, became one of the favorites to win it all. While his next two fights proved to be decision wins, including the Tournament final win over Vila at Bellator 59, it takes nothing away from the baby-faced youngster who will be just 23 when he gets his title shot against Mackovsky.
3. Alexis Vila - (11-1, 2-1 BFC) – After shocking the world at Bellator 51 in Canton, Ohio, with his highlight reel KO of Joe Warren, Alexis Vila went from underdog to a favorite in the Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament. While Vila was not able to show that same explosiveness in his split decision win over Marcos Galvao or split decision loss to Eduardo Dantas, he will be back in Season 6 to try and recreate some of the magic that put him on the map last September.
4. Ed West - (17-6, 3-2 BFC) - Ed "Wild" West may have quirky manerisms and talk a big game, but the speedy bantamweight backs up his talk. Reminding some MMA experts of Dominick Cruz in his fast-paced style, West does not have the gaudy record of several of his counterparts in Bellator's 135 pound division, but his resume of opponents over his 8 year pro MMA career shows just how tough he really is. West's four losses all came to fighters who regularly fight at 145 or 155 pounds. When fighting at his ideal weight of 135 pounds, West can challenge any fighter on this list as he has another opportunity to prove himself in Bellator's Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament.
5. Masakatsu Ueda - (14-1-2, 0-0 BFC) - Ueda joins Bellator for their upcoming Season 6 Tournament to begin in the Spring of 2012 and brings with him a resume that includes a win over Dantas and draws against Takeya Mizugaki and Marcos Galvao. While he has yet to enter the Bellator cage, the experience gained over his six year pro career should prove to be quite valuable as he faces consistent top-level competition under the Bellator banne.
