Pro Fighting Fans Editor-in-Chief and Director of MMA Content Scott Dryden once again provides his pound for pound ranking of the top fighters in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. As part of his column entitled The Triangle Choke, Dryden takes a look at the Top 10 MMA fighters in the world and ranks them pound for pound. While similar lists can be found online, our pound for pound rankings are some of the most accurate found anywhere online or in print as Dryden's experience around MMA and wealth of knowledge is unmatched. MMA fans were treated to a showcase of talent on July 11th with UFC 100. The month of August will not disappoint as Affliction, Strikeforce, UFC and WEC each have stellar events. Our pound for pound rankings reveal the best fighters in the sport regardless of weight class, four of which will be fighting in August. Below is our complete MMA pound for pound rankings.

The greatest fighter in the history of the sport will face Josh Barnett at Affliction Trilogy on August 1. Fedor has defeated all comers and has proven to be equally skilled on the ground and on his feet. He holds a 30-1 career record and currently holds the WAMMA Heavyweight Title.

GSP is the best athlete in the sport. He is incredibly quick and has an uncanny ability to take even the best wrestlers to the ground. GSP dominated Thiago Alves at UFC 100. GSP is 19-2 with a 6 fight winning streak and is the current UFC Welterweight Champion.

The hardest fighter on the planet to hit. Machida uses his Karate skills to keep distance and avoid strikes. Respect and a title shot didn't come as quickly as they should have for the Dragon, but he capitalized on his belated shot by throttling Rashad Evans at UFC 98. Machida holds a career record of 15-0 and is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

The smallest guy in the top ten may have the biggest heart. Torres will take on all comers and is willing to slug it out with any opponent. Torres holds a career record of 37-1 and is the current WEC Bantamweight Champion. Torres will defend his title against Brian Bowles on August 9 at WEC 42.

Anderson Silva has proven to be unbeatable in the UFC Middleweight division. He has defeated Rich Franklin (twice) and Dan Henderson to name a few. Silva will jump weight classes to face former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin at UFC 101 on August 8th. Silva, the current UFC Middleweight Champion, holds a career record of 24-4 and is 9-0 in the UFC Octagon.

Typically pound for pound rankings are biased to the lighter weight classes but Brock Lesnar deserves the ranking. He may well be the most dominant force in all of MMA and is getting better with each fight. The former NCAA wrestling champion exuded patience in his demolition of Frank Mir at UFC 100. Lesnar is now the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion and holds a career record of 4-1.

BJ Penn is coming off a loss to GSP at UFC 94. In this instance Penn's bite didn't match his bark. He called GSP an assortment of names leading up to the fight but was thoroughly whipped by the Welterweight Champion. Penn will look to bounce back against a worthy opponent in Kenny Florian at UFC 101 on August 8 in Philadelphia.
