SD- You mentioned trying to get a fight against Kimbo for years, talk about that. RN- I wanted to fight Kimbo when I was in the IFL because it would have been a great pay, but for in the house he was the last guy I wanted to fight on Rampage's team.
SD- What were your thoughts seeing Rampage and the crew working on Kimbo’s ground game? RN- When I watch Kimbo working his ground game I was like "great," because when I fight him next week it was the best Kimbo I would be facing.
SD- Your thoughts on Rashad stating you were difficult to coach and you were disrespectful? RN- I laugh when I watched how they cut it, because it started when I asked, "When have you ever fought from your knees and they said, "Never" so I said, "My point exactly." That is when I ruffled some feathers. The coaching part I let it be known that they were going to coach their teammates from the Jackson's camp more then me and my other teammates because they were their friends. They responded with, "No we are going to coach you the same." I called bull $H!T and they didn't know how to handle it, but to say they were going to coach us all the same. Then I told them, they are some messed up friends if your not going to pull for your friends over me. Who needs enemies when you have friends like that?
SD- Talk about the conversation with Rashad and his coaches. Was there more said afterwards? RN- Yes, the parts where the fans didn't get to see was where we came to an understanding on what we expected from each other.
SD- Were you treated differently in the house after the criticism? RN- No, I was treated with more respect because I am straight shooter and you can't respect someone that is lying to your face.
SD- What are your thoughts on the promo for UFC 104 stating the IFL’s #1 Heavyweight Ben Rothwell? RN- I think it awesome for him to be the number #1 and I am the only and reigning IFL Heavyweight Champion.
SD- What were your thoughts on Rampage’s picking Wes Shivers and James McSweeney? RN- This choice for Rampage was a much better choice since the fight was a close one.
SD- How was James McSweeney in training? RN-James in training was a dedicated fighter who put his nose to the grindstone and worked. He is excellent kick boxer, and his kick can do some damage. Wes's leg was black and blue and he could hardly walk for days after the fight.
SD- Both fighters were incredibly tired, have you ever been that exhausted in a fight? RN- In fight you have couple different level of exhaustion, they hit the wall which is the one that feels like hell, but even if you feel like you're on fire, you can't show it and that is what they both did in this fight.
SD- Controversial decision, how did you think the fight went? RN- The fight could have went to the third round but I think the judges went off how Wes just gave up at the end and saved him from the third.
SD- What was your feelings when Rashad picked you against Kimbo? RN- When I got picked to fight Kimbo, I said to myself, "Man, this sucks" because this is Rampage's better fighter, and I wanted a weaker opponent since we have three fights in five weeks.
SD- How about Kimbo’s comments at the end of the show? RN- Kimbo’s comment at the end the show is just how many fighter try to pump themself up for the fight.
SD- They called this the biggest fight in the history of the show, how does it feel to hear that? RN- Well this is the biggest fight in The Ultimate Fighter's history due to the fact we both have headlined many cards by ourselves, and it feels good to make history again.
SD- What are your thoughts on Rampage's retirement, if its true? RN- I think Rampage's retirement is Tito Ortiz' move to extort more money from the UFC.
Thanks Roy, we cannot wait to see next week!
