TUF 10 contestant Roy Nelson discusses his fight with Kimbo Slice on Episode 3

SD- The day of the fight, did you realize the hype that would surround this fight and how big it would be for your career?

RN- No, I knew it was big because Kimbo brought his entourage, and manger to watch the fight.

SD- You were really given this opportunity by Rashad picking you, speak about that.

RN- Not really. Kimbo is who I had to fight so I fought him, won, went home and ate. Just a day at the office.

SD- Your thoughts on the guys talking about how much money this fight could have made for both you and Kimbo?

RN- All I know is I wish I had Kimbo's contract because then I could not worry about people messing with my beard or the banks foreclosing on my house.

SD- What were your thoughts on Rashad’s comments regarding you trusting people?

RN- I trust people who don't lie to my face, but if you do it kind of hard to believe you.

SD- How about the Rampage/Rashad verbal scuffle?

RN- Old news, don't you know Rampage is the next BA.

SD- Did you laugh hearing Rampage’s comments about your belly?

RN- Yeah, but he is retarded, and you don't hear me knock him because of that. It's just not politically correct.

SD- Did Marcus give you any tips on your flower garden?

RN- No, Marcus kept his gardening secret for his book.

SD- Rashad and your team spoke well of you.  Talk about seeing that for the 1st time?

RN- I really don't have comment besides the truth always comes out.

SD- How were your nerves compared to past fights?

RN-This was a little more stressful since you have to win three in five weeks. Besides that, another day at the office.

SD- You finally got the takedown in the 1st round.  What were your thoughts when you gained the full mount position?

RN- I was over-anxious, then I remembered what I told the guys what I was going to do - so I went for it.

SD- You then pinned his arms in a crucifix position and landed a ton of blows.  Referee Herb Dean kept stating “Kimbo you got to fight” yet he didn’t stop it.  What was going through your head and were you saying anything to Dean at the time?

RN- I was thinking Florida all over, then I started to yell at Herb, and he looked like he was shitting his pants because if he stopped it he was going to get fired.

SD- In the 2nd round you ate a couple of shots to take him down and quickly grabbed side control.  How easy was he to control on the ground?

RN- He was the hardest guy I ever fought. This is for the Kimbo's fans, so I don't have drive by.

SD- You ended up in the same position as the 1st round and dominated him.  Talk about your strategy and how you called it before the fight

RN- When you go out, execute your game plan, which was simple get him to commit, takedown, and crucifix.

SD- Where do you rank this win?

RN- Another day at the office, it wasn't that important if I couldn't get a whopper.

SD- What were your thoughts on Dana White’s comments?  Do you think he was concerned with Kimbo winning for TV ratings?

RN- Dana likes to sell tickets and that is what he is doing. Kimbo is the show, that is why I fake a stroke so he could have my spot to fight. I am team player.

SD- Do you think since you beat Kimbo you will get the late night TV appearances he has been getting?

RN- I would prefer Howard stern, or Conan, because there is a lot more viewer and listeners.

SD- Does it bother you how the UFC is marketing the show completely around a 3-1 fighter, Kimbo Slice, who lost his first fight in the house?

RN- No, this isn't new, because we do have Brock as our Champion.

SD- Finally, congrats Roy on the big victory. One off the wall question.  Do you ever sneak a peek at the ring girl?

RN- TV Magic, no ring girls at all - stock footage.
