The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz - Episode 7: “Coming for Blood” RecapRecap of Episode 7 of the TUF 11 fight between Seth Baczynski vs Joe Henle
Another Wednesday night, another Ultimate Fighter. After tonight’s episode all the fighters on the show will have fought, leaving only the wild card fight to finalize the second round of the TUF tournament. Before we get to that though, let’s see who advances tonight, Henle or Baczynski. The fighters recap the Nick Ring vs Court McGee fight from last week. Clayton doesn’t think Nick fought to his potential, Liddell thinks Nick didn’t look good on his feet and that his shot was horrible. McGee is disappointed about the loss, and feels as though he won the second round. He hopes to get another opportunity via the wild card fight. Tito Ortiz gives his thoughts on Ring, saying Nick looked good, but that he was holding back. Nick says he hurt his knee in the fight to get in the house and believes he hurt it some more in the fight with McGee. He tells the doctor that the ligaments feel loose, and the doctor says he will try to find something to alleviate that.
Tito announces the last fight, Henle vs. Baczynski. Dana White chimes in that he thinks the fight is completely lopsided, and sees no way Henle wins the fight. Based solely on this, I have a feeling the fight will be razor close. Stay tuned. Seth Baczynski is 28 years old with an 11-5 record. He says it’s been a long bumpy road, but he loves MMA, and he considers it a privilege to be working a job he loves to do. Baczynski is grateful to Tito for giving him a second chance having lost in the initial fight to get into the house. Henle says that TUF is a surreal experience considering he just got into MMA in July. He said after his first fight he just kept winning and then boom, he was on the show. Rich Boombotz worries about Henle’s mindset, and thinks Henle may not be in the right place coming into this fight. Henle says he’s sacrificed a lot for this opportunity. When he isn’t fighting he’s a substitute teacher with an MBA in financial planning. While he misses the kids he teaches, he plans to make the most of this opportunity. Henle says he doesn’t think he’s the best fighter in the world, but he will be, he says, “That’s for damn sure.”
Chuck Liddell thinks Henle has a lot of potential, but he says you never know. He tells Henle to get in and get out and to submit Baczynski. He thinks Henle looks very relaxed and ready to go. During a sparring session between Nick Ring and Baczynski, Nick’s knee slides out and he collapses to the floor. He’s been struggling with his knee for three years, he says, and underwent multiple surgeries. Till now Nick’s been keeping it secret, but now that he collapsed in the middle of a training session, he knows others in the house have become aware of his injury and could take advantage of it. Tito checks out Nick’s knee and can feel that it’s loose. Nick just wants to get it fixed, anyway possible. McGee thinks that if Baczynski gives anything up, Henle could submit him. Hammortree says Baczynski is coming for blood and expects it to be a war. Hammortree thinks he deserves the wildcard, and so does the rest of Team Punishment, including Kyacey and Chris. Baczynski says as long as you train hard and are prepared a fight is nothing. Henle says not to be fooled by his MBA, he’s only been training for sixth months, but he’s for real. Henle comes to the Octagon first, and says that a fight is a chess match with your body. If you fight with anger, you will make mistakes. Baczynski enters the cage next and says that Henle is a tough guy andbelieves he’ll need to stay composed and capitalize on Henle’s mistakes.
Joe Henle vs. Seth Baczynski
Henle says just because he lost don’t think his heart went away. He says he wants the wild card, and will do anything to get the opportunity. Chuck and Tito come out with Dana to announce the wild card fight. Dana says he wants the two best fighters left to fight it out and advance in the competition. Dana tells the fighters that he wanted to make sure they got two guys who could jump back into the mix. The first fighter is Kyacey Uscola. The second fighter is Kris McCray. Dana also announces that because Rich Boombotz got injured, someone needs to replace him. Dana gives the spot to Court McGee because he feels Court had been screwed over by the judges. He reminds them before he goes, “Don’t leave it to the fuckin’ judges.” Henle and Hammortree are upset to hear they aren’t in the wild card fight. On the next episode, the wild card fight between Kris and Kyacey goes down. Then, Dana mediates a coach’s summit to decide the second round of fights. Finally, one fighter’s stunning announcement leaves an opening for another fighter to step back into the competition. There will be 2 fights next week,so if you don’t get Spike, can’t find a suitable website that streams it, or just like reading recaps of shows you’ve already watched, check back next Thursday for episode 8’s recapitulation.
